Max Verstappen is one of the most collected names in Formula 1 cards — and for good reason. The Dutch driver, born in 1997, reached Formula 1 in 2015 and became the youngest race winner in F1 history at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix. He has since won four consecutive World Championships — 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 — with Oracle Red Bull Racing.
For collectors, that means deep demand across his card catalog. Because Topps holds the official Formula 1 trading-card license, the key modern Verstappen cards come out of the Topps F1 program — Chrome Formula 1 (the program’s base set), Chrome F1 Sapphire, Chrome LogoFractor, Eccellenza, Lights Out, Finest, Paddock Pass, Turbo Attax, Topps Now F1, and high-end Dynasty F1. His 2020 Topps Chrome Formula 1 cards are the anchor of the modern licensed run.

The card catalog, year by year
Every season Verstappen has raced since Topps launched its modern F1 license maps to its own Chrome release. This is the spine of his catalog — see the full year-by-year hub for the on-track story behind each year:
| Year | Set | On-track story |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 · Sapphire | Debut licensed year — the rookie-card anchor |
| 2021 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | First World Championship |
| 2022 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | Second title, record single-season wins |
| 2023 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | Third title, 19-win record season |
| 2024 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | Fourth consecutive title |
| — | Is there a paper Topps F1 flagship? | No — Chrome is the F1 base set. Read this before hunting one |
Two lines don’t fit a single year: Topps Now Formula 1 prints a card to order after a specific race or milestone, and Topps Dynasty Formula 1 carries his top-end on-card autographs.
Real card numbers currently in stock
Confirming the actual year, set and card number printed on a card — not just “it’s a Verstappen chrome” — is the first step to buying the right one. A few examples from our current in-stock catalog, with each number’s provenance stated:
| Year | Set | Card # | What it actually is | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2021 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | #48 | Base | listing description |
| 2021 | Topps Chrome F1 Sapphire | #161 | Sapphire base, PSA 10 | listing description |
| 2023 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | #189 | F1 Award Winners subset | published checklist |
| 2024 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | #145 | Grand Prix Winners subset (not base) | published checklist |
| 2025 | Topps Chrome Formula 1 | #1 | Base, F1 Drivers | published checklist |
| 2025 | Topps Now Formula 1 | #83 | ”Win Grand Prix 2025”, graded GEM MT 10 | listing description |
Two honesty notes. That last row is a Topps Now card, not a card from some paper “Topps Formula 1” set — F1 has no paper flagship, and Topps Now issues are routinely listed as just “Topps F1”. And the rows marked listing description come from graded-slab listings rather than a published checklist: checklistinsider’s F1 coverage begins in 2023 — its earliest Chrome F1 checklist is the 2023 edition — so pre-2023 card numbers on this site are marketplace-sourced and worth confirming from the card face.
In the sets that are covered by a published checklist, Verstappen’s verified numbers are: 2023 — #1–4 (F1 Drivers), #102 (F1 Cars), #145/#147–149/#151–152/#155–159/#161 (Grand Prix Winners), #169–170/#178–180 (Driver of the Day), #189–190 (F1 Award Winners). 2024 — #1 (F1 Drivers), #73 (F1 Cars), #145 (Grand Prix Winners), #182–183 (F1 Award Winners). 2025 — #1 (F1 Drivers), #73 (F1 Cars), #93–99 and #101–102 (Grand Prix Winners), #113/#115/#117 (Pole Position), #142 (Driver of the Day), #148 (F1 Award Winners).
Card numbers repeat across different years and sets, so it’s the year + set + number together that identifies a specific card. Read the parallel & refractor ladder to decode the finish, or check the serial number if you’re worried about authenticity.
